Sharpening
Sharp blades make the difference in the corners. Short track skaters sharpen often, sometimes before every training. Keep your blades sharp: diamond sharpening plates, polishing and burr stones, replacement sheets and sharpening jigs from Skate-Tec, NAGANO Skate and CBC.
Sharpening stones
A diamond sharpening plate or stone removes material quickly and puts a clean, straight edge on the blade. Many skaters work with two grits: a coarser grit to sharpen and a finer one to finish. Then a polishing stone gives a smooth surface, and a burr stone or carbide removes the burr. Replacement sheets keep your diamond plate in top condition.
Sharpening jigs and frames
A sharpening jig holds both blades in place so you sharpen straight and even. The Skate-Tec Jig Pro is light enough to take along to competitions. The CBC sharpening frame is a sturdy choice for home or the club.
Rocker and blade care
Besides sharpening, every short track blade needs a rocker (curve) and a bend. Our blades ship factory pre-bent but are not rockered, so add the Skate-Tec rockering service to have your preferred profile set before first ice. Dry your blades after every training and store them in blade guards or a blade case to prevent rust.
