INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

This manual must be handed to the final user of our products.

Thank you for your purchase with Carpenter Boot Company (CBC), leaders in high performance long and short track speedskating boot technology and speedskating equipment.

  • CBC designs and crafts Short Track, Long Track, and Inline Skating boots and related equipment. Our products should only be coupled with other specific gear (e.g. speedskating blades, inline frames, etc.) that conform to accepted international standards. Please review the CBC Sizing and Mount Information.
  • For the proper functioning and safe use of our products, be sure to have them initially set-up and regularly maintained by a qualified professional.
  • Improper use and maintenance can dramatically reduce the performance of our products and will void your warranty.

⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING

Short Track, Long Track, and Inline Skating are hazardous sports with inherent risks of injury. Always wear proper protective gear (helmet, shin guards, cut-proof clothing and gloves), follow track rules, and skate within your ability.

CBC BOOTS: RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE & MAINTENANCE

  • Always inspect your boots, blades, and other equipment before each use.
  • Check that your blades are securely mounted to your boots, and that your boot laces and straps are in good working order.
  • Before installing blades, make sure mountings are free from ice, snow, or dirt.
  • Stop skating and inspect immediately if you hear clicking or unusual sounds.
  • After use, dry the exterior and interior of the boots thoroughly, away from direct heat.
  • Clean only with mild soap and water.
  • Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight.

🔥 HEAT MOLDING INSTRUCTIONS FOR CBC BOOTS

Important Warning: CBC strongly recommends that heat molding be performed by a qualified professional.

If you have no other option and must heat mold the boots yourself, you do so at your own risk. Home heat molding can significantly reduce the stiffness, performance, and lifespan of the boot and will void the warranty and return eligibility.

Heat Molding Steps (Only if no professional option is available):

  1. Position a towel in the front of a standard chair. Roll and situate a towel under the heel so the heel sits slightly higher than the toe.
  2. Unlace your CBC boots completely.
  3. Place boots in a traditional oven at 70°C / 160°F. Heat until the shell is malleable (usually 10-15 minutes).
  4. Remove one boot at a time and slip onto your foot (use thin socks if hot to avoid burns).
  5. Place heel on the rolled towel, lace up starting from the toe, and pose in skating position (knees directly over toes).
  6. Massage out potential pressure points during the cooling process.
  7. Keep boots on for at least 10 minutes until partially cured.
  8. Unlace completely and remove carefully to avoid distortion.
  9. Allow full cure for 12 hours.
  10. Your boots are now customized.
  11. If the fit is not perfect, you may repeat the process (note: boots will lose stiffness if molded multiple times).

It is recommended that heat gun modifications be performed by an experienced individual.

HEAT MOLDING INSTRUCTIONS FOR CBC SHINARMOR

  1. ShinArmor is best molded on a hairless shin as the material becomes sticky.
  2. Use a flat pan or container that fits the entire ShinArmor cutout.
  3. Heat tap water to just below boiling.
  4. Submerge only one cutout at a time for 20-30 seconds until soft and drapable.
  5. Remove with spatula or tongs and wait 10 seconds.
  6. Sit upright with toes on the edge of a table (heel hanging free).
  7. Lay the cutout on your unclothed shin and lightly massage it into place. Do not pull the edges.
  8. Allow it to cool completely on your shin. Run cold water over it if needed.
  9. Evaluate the fit and remold if necessary.

CBC PRO-SHARPENING FRAME: RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Setup on a flat surface.
  • Avoid over-tightening bolts so as not to strip the threads.
  • Use top-stops or top locators to ensure blades are level and square.
  • Wipe metal sharpening dust from the jig after use.
